🦍 Crypto Apes: Puzzle Adventure
Merge apes, clear the jungle, collect treasure. Everything you need to master the game — pieces, power-ups, chests, badges and beyond.
1. Welcome to Crypto Apes: Puzzle Adventure
Crypto Apes: Puzzle Adventure is a puzzle game for Android and iOS where your goal is simple to learn but tricky to master: help every ape escape the play field and into the jungle to clear each level. Every level you clear earns you a coin — a Crypto Apes’ Banana (CAB) — and pushes you further up the world map.
Along the way you’ll merge apes into mighty Golden Apes, smash stones, dodge man-eater plants, open treasure chests, climb the ranks with collectible badges, and compete for weekly prizes on the highscore boards. This guide walks you through all of it.
Your ape avatar and chosen name are shown on the main menu. Tap your avatar to open your profile and inventory, where you can equip different avatars and name frames you’ve collected.
2. How the Game Works
Each level is a grid holding apes and obstacles. You have a limited number of moves. The objective is always the same: clear every ape off the field by sending them out into the jungle. Clear the field before you run out of moves and the level is won.
- Tap an ape to send it moving in the direction it faces. It moves until something blocks it — or escapes off the edge into the jungle.
- Clear the board of all apes to win the level and earn 1 CAB.
- Run out of moves (or get an ape eaten by a plant) and you fail the level.
Levels get steadily harder as you climb. The first several levels are guided tutorials with pop-ups and pointers that teach each mechanic step by step, so you’re never thrown in cold.
Failed a level? You won’t be punished twice — you can retry the same layout for free, or shuffle it into a fresh layout for a small fee (0.5 CABs). You can also spend CABs to buy extra moves and keep going.
3. Reading the Game Screen
During a level the on-screen counters keep you informed:
- CABs — your bananas (coins), top-left.
- Golden Tokens — collected in-game, used on the Fortune Wheel.
- Level — the level you’re on.
- Moves left — how many moves remain (e.g. 16/16).
- Chest progress — how close you are to your next treasure chest.
- Undo & Settings — buttons at the bottom; the big Undo button lets you take back a move.
The settings menu lets you leave the game, toggle music and sound effects separately, and reopen the instructions.
4. Currencies & Energy
🍌 CABs — Crypto Apes’ Bananas
CABs are the main currency. You earn 1 CAB for every level you clear, and you can buy them with real money from the main menu (tap the + next to your CAB counter). CABs are spent on things like opening treasure chests, buying extra moves, regenerating a failed layout, buying in-game items and changing your name.
🪙 Golden Tokens
Golden Tokens power the Fortune Wheel. You earn them in-game: when a Golden Ape jumps into an oil spill it turns back into a black ape and the spill becomes a golden token (a 20% chance each time). Each token buys one spin of the wheel.
⚡ Energy
Energy is your play stamina. You have a maximum of 5 energy. Each time you lose a level you lose 1 energy; one energy regenerates every 30 minutes. Run out and you can buy 15 minutes of unlimited energy for €0.99. Winning levels never costs energy.
Real money (€) is used to buy CABs or energy.
5. Game Pieces
Here’s the full roster of pieces you’ll meet.
Black Ape
The basic piece. Tap it and it moves in the direction it faces until blocked by an object — or off the field into the jungle. Clear all apes to win.
Golden Ape
Formed when two Black Apes clash. A Golden Ape is almighty: it crushes stones, smothers oil spills and destroys green slime in its path, taking the tile for itself. When you hit a Golden Ape with another ape, it changes to face the new direction. When two Golden Apes clash, a mighty roar destroys every oil spill on the field and cracks every stone once.
Silverback Ape (from level 151)
A rare silver ape with only a 2% chance to appear, and only on your first attempt at a new level. Tap it and it leaps straight into the jungle, ignoring everything in its way (you’ll be asked to confirm). But if you hit it with a Golden Ape, you win a Jungle Treasure Chest! A normal ape can’t move it — it just blocks.
Stone
Blocks apes. A Black Ape facing a stone will push it one tile (unless another stone or ape is behind it). Tap a stone directly to crack it — three taps destroys it (a nearby ape roars to shatter it). Push a stone into an oil spill and it fills the spill, creating a walkable tile.
Oil Spill
Blocks Black Apes; Golden Apes can smother and step on them. Tap an oil spill and an ape throws a banana in, making it splash to nearby tiles and paralyse them for one turn. After your next move the splash clears and the spill sinks into the ground, leaving a walkable tile.
Green Slime
Stops any ape that moves onto it. Tap the stuck ape again to move on (the slime stays). Tap the slime and an ape throws a banana in to neutralise it so apes cross freely. Push a stone into slime and the stone turns fragile (one tap destroys it). A Golden Ape stopped on slime destroys it.
Man-Eater Plant
Deadly — any ape that moves into it (even a Golden Ape) is eaten and you instantly lose the level. Destroy it by pushing a stone onto it, by throwing two bananas (two taps) when no Golden Ape is present, or with a single Golden Ape roar (one tap) if a Golden Ape is on the field.
Mushroom
An ape that lands on a mushroom eats it and gets dizzy, turning clockwise every turn until it makes a move. Push a stone onto a mushroom to crush it, or tap the mushroom to make an ape roar and explode it. Tap a mushroom directly and you have a 10% chance to collect it as a reusable power-up.
Teleport Portals
A linked red and blue portal (at most one pair per level). Hold your finger on an ape sitting on a portal to teleport it to the twin portal — this doesn’t cost a move. Stones can be teleported too. A Golden Ape can teleport onto a stone and crush it; a Black Ape cannot, and stones can’t stack.
Bear Trap
Snaps shut on any ape that lands on it. To break free, tap the trapped ape and stop a spinning counter at the right moment in a quick timing mini-game.
Geyser
Launches any ape that lands on it high into the air and straight into the jungle — an instant escape. After firing it needs one turn to reheat before it can be used again. Push a stone into a Geyser and the stone explodes.
6. Core Mechanics
Merging apes
When two Black Apes clash, they fuse into a Golden Ape, which takes the direction of the ape that was hit. Hitting a Golden Ape with another ape changes the direction it faces. Merge two Golden Apes together for a field-wide roar that wipes out every oil spill and cracks every stone once.
Swapping apes
Two apes sitting directly next to each other (up, down, left or right — not diagonally) can be swapped by swiping between them. Swapping costs one turn, so use it wisely.
Pushing stones
A Black Ape facing a stone pushes it one tile — but not if another stone or an ape is directly behind it. Push a stone into an oil spill to fill it (creating a path), or into green slime to make it fragile.
Splashing oil spills
Tapping an oil spill splashes it to neighbouring tiles, paralysing them for one turn. It’s smart to spend that turn doing something useful elsewhere on the field — by your next move the splash clears on its own and leaves a walkable tile.
Undo move
Made a mistake? Use the on-screen Undo Move button to take back your last move and get the move back on your counter. You can undo up to 2 times per level.
↑ Back to top7. Power-Ups
Power-ups sit in your in-game power-up bar. Tap one to activate it, then tap the target on the field.
🍄 Mushroom
Tap an ape to make it dizzy — it spins clockwise every turn until moved. Time the rotation to point an ape exactly where you need it. Collected by tapping mushrooms in-game (10% chance).
👣 Extra Move
Gives you 1 extra move after failing a level, so you can keep trying without spending CABs.
🦍 Golden Ape
Instantly turns a selected Black Ape into a Golden Ape.
↩️ Undo Move
Takes back your last move (up to 2 per level). Also available as a dedicated button on the game screen.
Power-ups can be won from the Golden Token Wheel.
↑ Back to top8. Win Streaks & the Blazing Meteorite
Win 10 levels in a row without failing and you earn a powerful perk: at the start of every level a Blazing Meteorite falls from the sky and turns one random Black Ape into a Golden Ape — before you even make a move.
The main menu shows a streak indicator that burns hotter as you approach 10/10. The perk lasts as long as you keep winning; the moment you lose a level, it resets and you’ll need another 10-win streak to reignite it.
9. The Golden Token Wheel
Accessible from the main menu, the Fortune Wheel is spun with Golden Tokens — one token per spin. It’s the best way to turn your in-game tokens into power-ups, CABs and the occasional treasure chest. There’s a 1× spin button and an auto-spin for when you’re sitting on lots of tokens.
| Prize | Chance |
|---|---|
| Jungle Treasure Chest | 3% |
| Golden Ape power-up | 12% |
| Extra Move power-up | 14% |
| Mushroom power-up | 14% |
| 1 CAB | 18% |
| 2 CABs | 14% |
| 5 CABs | 6% |
| 10 CABs | 4% |
| Nothing | 15% |
Jackpot! Landing on a Jungle Treasure Chest stops auto-spin automatically.
10. Treasure Chests & Rarities
Every 50 levels cleared drops a treasure chest. You’ll usually get a Jungle Treasure Chest, but there’s a 10% chance it’s upgraded to a Golden Treasure Chest instead. Chests can also be won from the Silverback Ape and the Fortune Wheel. Opening a regular chest costs 50 CABs.

Tap your badge any time to see how many wins you need to reach the next rank.
↑ Back to top12. Avatars & Name Frames
Avatars
Every player starts with a basic male or female avatar — these are yours by default and can’t be sold. Custom avatars drop from treasure chests and can be traded with other players on the Market. Equip any avatar you own from your profile.
Name Frames
A Name Frame doesn’t change your name — it changes how your name is displayed. Everyone starts with the plain Classic frame; rarer frames are collected from chests and traded on the Market.
Changing your actual name costs 30 CABs, and every player name must be unique.
13. The Market
Selling fee: the game takes a 15% commission on every sale. List an item for 10 CABs and the buyer pays 11.50, with 1.50 going to the game.
14. Highscores & Weekly Prizes
There are two leaderboards: a Weekly board ranking players by levels gained this week, and an All-Time board for the highest total level reached. The Weekly board is shown first, with a timer counting down to the end of the week.
When the week ends, prizes are awarded to the top players. You must claim your prize within 48 hours (from your mailbox) or you lose it, then a fresh week begins.
| Weekly placement | Prize |
|---|---|
| 🥇 1st | 200 CABs + Jungle Treasure Chest |
| 🥈 2nd | 100 CABs + Jungle Treasure Chest |
| 🥉 3rd | 50 CABs + Jungle Treasure Chest |
| 4th – 10th | 10 CABs + 5 Golden Tokens |
Players on the boards are shown with their chosen name frame and badge colour.
↑ Back to top15. Profiles, Friends & Mailbox
Tap any player on the highscores to open their profile: their full-length avatar, name and frame, inventory, and their global and weekly rankings. From there you can send a friend request.
- Friends live in your mailbox. Open a friend’s profile to view their collection or unfriend them.
- Messaging — chat with friends (with a profanity filter). Unwanted messages can be reported to the game admins for review.
- Privacy — you can block incoming friend requests entirely if you’d rather play solo.
Your Mailbox is also where game messages arrive — including weekly prize claims and incoming friend requests you can accept or decline.
↑ Back to top16. World Areas
Every 200 levels you journey into a brand-new region, each with its own look and freshly themed pieces. The mechanics stay the same — only the names and scenery change — so once you know the jungle you’ll feel right at home everywhere.

17. Tips & Tricks
- Tap apes to activate them — help them all escape into the jungle within your move limit to clear the level.
- Swap places of apes that are next to each other by swiping between them — but remember it costs a turn.
- Merge two Black Apes to create a powerful Golden Ape.
- Green slimes stop apes. A Golden Ape stopped on slime destroys it; a Black Ape won’t.
- Black Apes are blocked by oil spills, but a Golden Ape can jump in — turning back to black and giving a chance at a Golden Token.
- Black Apes push stones; Golden Apes crush them. Apes can’t push a stone if another stone or an ape is directly behind it.
- A fully intact stone is destroyed by tapping it three times.
- Push a stone into green slime to make it fragile — fragile stones break in a single tap.
- Merging two Golden Apes cracks every stone once and instantly destroys all oil spills.
- Pushing a stone into an oil spill clears a path. Sometimes it’s wiser to open a path than to destroy every spill!
- Tapping an oil spill splashes nearby tiles that clear after your next move — use that turn for something else on the field.
- Use the Undo button to reverse unwanted moves — up to 2 uses per level.
- Landing on a mushroom makes an ape spin clockwise every turn. Activating it stops the spin — time the rotation to your advantage.
- Landing on a mushroom has a chance to collect it as a power-up.
- Tap mushrooms and green slimes directly to destroy them instantly.
- Man-eater plants eat your ape and cost you the level — never move into one.
- With a Golden Ape on the field, a man-eater plant dies to a single tap; otherwise it takes two.
- Hit a Silverback Ape with a Golden Ape to win a Jungle Treasure Chest — but don’t tap it, or it vanishes into the jungle!
